We manufacture KK-R/e basket screens designed for the mechanical retention of larger solids upstream of pumps in municipal and industrial wastewater pumping stations. The basket, guide rails, chain and hoist chain are made of acid-resistant stainless steel. The clear spacing between the screen bars is selected according to the process requirements within the range of 10 to 50 mm.
In an example configuration, a screen 500 mm wide, 500 mm long and 710/910 mm high, with a 40 mm bar spacing, achieves a maximum capacity of approximately 250 m³/h. We select the unit parameters and the basket lifting method according to the conditions of the specific pumping station.
The basket screen is installed in a tank or wet well receiving wastewater. Solids are retained inside the basket, while pre-screened wastewater flows onward to the pumping system. In more extensive mechanical treatment systems, finer solids can subsequently be separated, for example, by a vertical screw screen. Retaining larger solids at this initial stage helps reduce the risk of them reaching the pumps.
The basket moves along guide rails fixed to the wall of the tank. We equip it with dedicated guiding sockets that facilitate both lowering the screen and correctly positioning it back on the guide rails after emptying.
The unit consists of components responsible for retaining solids, guiding the basket and lifting it:

We select the hoist according to the weight of the basket itself and the expected weight of the screenings accumulated inside it. We offer solutions with an electric travelling hoist or a manually operated hoist. Available lifting capacities for the selected basket screen range from 125 to 2000 kg.
For emptying, the basket is lifted by the hoist to the top of the pumping station or tank. The retained screenings are then discharged into a dedicated container. After emptying, the basket is lowered along the guide rails back into its operating position.
The guide rail brackets are fixed to the wall of the tank, while the lower section of the guide rail can be anchored to the bottom. The support posts for the load-bearing beam must be fixed to the pumping station slab or to suitably prepared foundations. The axis of the load-bearing beam should be aligned with the axis of the screen.
An opening must be provided above the basket to allow it to be freely lifted out. Its dimensions should be adapted to the overall dimensions of the screen. The wastewater inlet pipe should project approximately 90 mm from the tank wall.
In addition to manufacturing the basket screen, we also offer mechanical installation and commissioning of the unit. This scope can form part of the supply of equipment for the construction or modernisation of wastewater treatment plants.
