VERTICAL SCREW SCREEN FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

We manufacture vertical screw screens from acid-resistant stainless steel, designed for the mechanical separation of solid contaminants from wastewater and water. We select the screen opening size according to the fraction of retained solids within the range of 1 to 10 mm, while the size of the unit is adapted to the wastewater flow rate. The maximum capacity is 40 dm³/s.

The unit is equipped with a shafted screw, a brush system for cleaning the screening surface, a washing system and an integrated dewatering zone. For outdoor installations, the dewatering zone can be equipped with a 0.5–1 kW heating system to protect the unit against freezing.

 

Vertical screw screen

 

The vertical screw screen can operate as part of the mechanical wastewater treatment stage. It retains solid contaminants, which are then removed from the screening surface and conveyed by the screw system.

Units of this type can be used, among other applications, in wastewater treatment plants receiving diluted wastewater from combined sewer systems, as well as in industrial installations. They can be selected as part of wastewater treatment plant equipment; depending on the required separation method, an alternative solution may be a rotary drum sieve.

 

Construction of the vertical screw screen

 

We manufacture the unit from acid-resistant stainless steel. Individual components are selected according to the wastewater parameters and the type of contaminants to be retained.

The main components of the vertical screw screen include:

  • submerged screening section – with openings ranging from 1 to 10 mm,
  • trough – lined with a polymer insert,
  • shafted screw – made of special-grade steel,
  • cleaning brushes – used to clean the screening surface during operation,
  • geared motor – with a 1.5 kW motor,
  • integrated dewatering zone,
  • dewatering zone heating system – optional, rated at 0.5–1 kW,
  • washing system – supporting the cleaning of the unit.

Screen openings matched to the contaminants

 

We select the size of the openings in the screening surface according to the characteristics of the contaminants present in the wastewater. The available range of 1 to 10 mm allows the unit to be adapted to the required degree of mechanical solids separation.

The size of the screen itself is selected according to the wastewater flow rate. The maximum capacity of the unit is 40 dm³/s.

Dewatering and frost protection

 

The vertical screw screen is equipped with an integrated dewatering zone for retained solids. This reduces the amount of water remaining in the material discharged from the unit.

For screens installed outdoors, we offer an optional dewatering zone heating system rated at 0.5–1 kW. Its purpose is to protect the unit against freezing during periods of low temperatures.
