We manufacture PP 1.2 / 5.0 vertical grit chambers designed to remove mineral contaminants from wastewater. The unit can be manufactured from polymer material or acid-resistant stainless steel and equipped with a control system and an air mixing system. We adapt the solution to the operating conditions of the specific wastewater treatment installation.
The vertical grit chamber can operate as part of the mechanical treatment stage of a wastewater treatment plant, working together with upstream equipment and subsequent process stages. The flow guidance system can be made of PVC in the diameter range of DN 160–400.
The PP 1.2 / 5.0 vertical grit chamber is designed to separate mineral contaminants such as grit, ash and fine coal particles from wastewater. These materials may enter the sewer system, among other sources, with runoff from streets and other paved surfaces.
The primary function of the grit chamber is to separate mineral suspended solids from organic suspended matter. Mineral fractions should be removed at this stage of the process, while organic matter can be directed to subsequent treatment stages, including a primary clarifier.
Separating mineral contaminants at an early stage of treatment helps reduce their adverse impact on equipment and process units located further downstream.
The use of a grit chamber helps protect the installation against:
Depending on the installation requirements, we manufacture the PP 1.2 / 5.0 grit chamber from polymer material or acid-resistant stainless steel. The construction material can be selected according to the environmental conditions, installation method and technological requirements of the wastewater treatment plant.
We equip the unit with components that enable proper operation of the process and integration with other elements of the installation. The equipment may include:
| Parameter | Value / version |
|---|---|
| Type | PP 1.2 / 5.0 |
| Construction material | polymer material / acid-resistant stainless steel |
| Mixing system | air mixing |
| Flow guidance system | PVC DN 160–400 |
| Control | automatic, Siemens controller |
| Actuating components | solenoid valves |
The vertical grit chamber can be integrated into a complete mechanical wastewater treatment line. It can operate together with grates, screens, screenings handling equipment and grit separators.
After a grit-containing mixture has been separated, it can be directed to another unit, such as a grit separator, where the grit is further separated from the liquid and removed by means of a screw conveyor.
A system configured in this way provides an integrated mechanical treatment stage in which successive units are responsible for removing specific groups of contaminants.
We supply grit chambers both for new projects and for facilities undergoing wastewater treatment plant modernisation. We adapt the design and installation method of the unit to the existing pipelines, available space and cooperating equipment.
As a manufacturer of process equipment, we can also supply other components of the mechanical treatment stage and prepare a solution enabling their integrated operation.
We equip the grit chamber with a control system for managing the operation of the unit and its actuating components. The use of a controller and solenoid valves enables the grit chamber to be integrated with other equipment in the process line.
We select the scope of automation according to the specific installation and the required method of operation.
The scope of our services may include not only the manufacture and delivery of the PP 1.2 / 5.0 vertical grit chamber, but also its installation and commissioning. We can also train operators in the correct operation of the unit and its cooperation with other elements of the installation.
The grit chamber can therefore be supplied either as an individual unit or as part of a larger mechanical wastewater treatment system.
